More people are struggling with symptoms of fatigue, breathlessness, tightness of the chest, muscle aches and other neurological signs such as headaches and brain fog.
It has been reported that patients that were not hospitalised and assumed to have a mild version of Covid-19 are presenting with what is now termed Long Covid. Symptoms vary in type, intensity and duration, leading some experts to suggest that there may be several different syndromes at play that presents difficulties in diagnosis. This has led to individuals not getting the recognition and treatment they need, often leading to a deterioration in mental health as well as physical health.
UK data suggest that large numbers of people are suffering in this way: one in seven of those with Covid symptoms would be ill for at least a month, one in twenty for two months, and one in forty-five for three or more months.
Acupuncture has long been used to treat post-viral symptoms, with great success, and is now being used worldwide to treat Long Covid. Many of the common symptoms seen with long Covid have been shown to respond to acupuncture in other contexts such as Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Heart Arrhythmia, Nausea, Pain and Digestive Issues.
If you are struggling with Long Covid get in touch to see how acupuncture can help you.
There is also inline support from the NHS. They offer a service called Your COVID Recovery. It will help you to understand what has happened and what you might expect as part of your recovery.
