Ear acupuncture also known as auriculotherapy has come of age and gained the attention of the wider medical community in recent years. The World Health Organisation has, since 1997, accepted that auriculotherapy has a place in clinical care, often utilised for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addiction, and pain management.

The introduction and development of Battlefield Acupuncture, by retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Dr. Richard Niemtzow, has raised awareness of auricular acupuncture's ability to treat a wide range of health concerns. Battlefield Acupuncture originally used as an auricular protocol for acute pain management for soldiers injured in battle. 

It has since been successfully adopted in emergency rooms, neonatal intensive care and primary care to reduce pain and trauma as well as emotional and physical pain.

Auricular acupuncture treatments can involve the application of either needles or seeds. Needles are used in a clinical setting while seeds are often administered at the end of a regular acupuncture treatment to assist with pain management, sleep issues, stress, or anxiety. The seeds can also be taken home and applied to the ear by a friend or family member.   

During the lockdown, I am offering online consultations for ear acupuncture. During the consultation we will discuss your health concerns, if auricular acupuncture is appropriate I will send you an ear seed pack in the post. The ear seed pack contains 30 ear seeds, tweezers, and an ear chart marking where to place your ear seeds. You will need a friend or family member to help you apply the seeds. If there is any difficulty applying the seeds I can assist you online. You will also receive lifestyle and dietary advice relevant to your health concern.
